Drama! This was a run full of drama. No other than William Shakespeare would lock himself up for months to write another Romeo and Juliet if he had seen what unfolded March 28th 2009 at run 1464. Four left Dhaka Mixed HHH permanently. Two remarks: one set off to find the trail of Marco Polo in China for the perfect wok cooking set. She wrote poems about cooking and read one during the walk. She would send the rest with a pigeon before her departure she was told in the circle. The other one (see above picture) set off for a long safari to African Abyssinia on a mission to introduce fish and chips to the local tribes. A pack of 51 runners and walkers left the ISD car park in easterly direction. Run and walk were comparable to 10pct of the march distance that the Légion étrangères is used to at their daily training. The sun beat down mercilessly on the hares and their disciples. Wild river streams, mosquitoes, quicksand, you name it. No run for softies. The heat was too much for Carolyn. She started reciting poetry that echoed between the desert dunes. We had to climb a steep sandy ridge. Many fell down and disappeared, swallowed by the greedy sand. What a run/walk. The ones that returned safely were addressed by Speedo Gonzalez who is one of the candidates for the seat of RA.
